Gangs kill 12 in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Dec 12 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Gangs in Haiti remain reckless on Wednesday, when they murdered 12 people, including two children in Petite-Rivière-de-l’Artibonite, 118 kilometers from the capital.

The massacre was committed by members of the “Gran Grif” gang, a few days after the Haitian National Police (PNH) announced the recovery of the local police station.

According to the Kominotek website, this bloody event of the last few hours brings to surface the inability of the security forces to protect the population from gang violence.

Despite the police presence, armed gangs continue to control a large part of the territory, mainly targeting civilians.

Police officials announced that they have stepped up patrols amid pressure to stamp out the threat posed by criminal, whose deadly attacks are multiplying. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
