ABU DHABI (UAE), Dec 7 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations by finalizing and signing key cooperation agreements, particularly in economic sectors, as Dodoma and Abu Dhabi pursue enhanced mutual prosperity.

The agreements were reached during the inaugural Diplomatic Consultations Meeting held at the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The Tanzanian delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo. During the talks, both sides emphasized their determination to strengthen existing ties and elevate them to new heights.

The two nations agreed to collaborate in critical areas, including trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, infrastructure development, energy, health, and the blue economy.

The UAE also pledged support for Tanzania’s Clean Cooking Initiative, a program spearheaded by President Samia Suluhu Hassan and endorsed by African and global leaders to promote sustainable energy solutions.

Additionally, the two nations committed to expediting the implementation of the Wete Hospital Expansion and Renovation Project in Pemba, funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development at a cost of $10 million.

Another significant agreement involves the Khalifa Fund for Development, which has allocated $10 million to support small and medium enterprises in Zanzibar.

Speaking during the discussions, UAE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Lana Nusseibeh, described Tanzania as a key partner for the UAE in Africa. She highlighted the success of existing collaborations, including agreements in aviation and the avoidance of double taxation.

Under the aviation agreements, airlines such as Emirates, Etihad, FlyDubai, and Air Tanzania have secured direct flight permits, boosting connectivity and facilitating trade between the two nations.
