Tanzania, Russia to collaborate on African liberation film

MOSCOW (Russia), Dec 5 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzania and Russia are set to produce a special film highlighting the contributions of both nations to the liberation of various African countries.

The initiative was unveiled during discussions between Tanzania’s Minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports, Dr. Damas Ndumbaro, and his Russian counterpart, Olga Lyubimova, in Moscow, Russia.

The film aims to educate younger generations about the struggle for African liberation and the significant roles played by Tanzania and Russia. According to Dr. Ndumbaro and Lyubimova, the cast will include artists from both countries, symbolizing the collaboration.

Additionally, the ministers agreed to foster cooperation in other cultural events and to share expertise, including participation in annual national cultural festivals held in each country.

In a related development, the two nations also expressed interest in exploring potential partnerships in the field of sports.

The enduring bond between Russia and Tanzania, dating back to the early 1960s when Tanzania broke free from British colonial rule, serves as a remarkable testament to the deep-rooted diplomatic relations and friendship existing between the two nations that have blossomed over the past six decades.

During the Cold War era, Tanzania, under the leadership of Julius Nyerere, pursued a policy of non-alignment, seeking support from both Western and Eastern bloc countries.

The Soviet Union, now Russia, saw Tanzania as a Strategic Partner in Africa and provided assistance in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, and defense. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
