Philippines’ Debt Rose To 273.56 Billion USD At End-Oct

MANILA, Dec 4 (NNN-PNA) – The Philippines’ debt increased to 16.02 trillion pesos (roughly 273.56 billion U.S. dollars), as of end-Oct, 0.8 percent higher than the level at the end of Sept, the Philippines’ Bureau of Treasury said, yesterday.

The bureau attributed the spike in the valuation impact of the peso depreciation against the U.S. dollar.

The bureau said, 67.98 percent of the total debt stock was sourced domestically, while the rest was sourced externally.

The bureau said, the country’s external debt stood at 5.13 trillion pesos (87.89 billion dollars) in Oct, 3.5 percent higher than a month earlier.

Since Jan, the country’s external debt has risen by 11.6 percent, the bureau said.– NNN-PNA
