Cuban and Russian Universities talk academic cooperation

HAVANA, Dec 4 (NNN-ACN) — Russia’s Technological University (MIREA) and the University of Matanzas, western Cuba, signed an academic cooperation accord in the areas of training and research.

MIREA’s first vice rector Nikolay Ivanovich and Matanzas University rector Leyda Finale penned the document which stipulates the development of curricula and joint research in areas of mutual interest.

Ivanovich said that both higher education centers share common interests and priorities.

Meanwhile, Finale said that this is the first accord signed between the two universities after her tour last May of different Russian higher education centers.

The Moscow-based MIREA is a modern university, considered a leader in the technology field with over 500 programs.

The University of Matanzas aims at meeting the needs of scientific and cultural programs in the western Cuban province. The center has eight faculties and a registration of over 9,000 students in 37 university courses. — NNN-ACN
