JAKARTA, Nov 27 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia is accelerating the construction of several Special Economic Zones (KEK), to attract more investors and boost exports, a minister said, yesterday.
“President Prabowo Subianto has instructed us to expedite the development of KEKs, to create opportunities for investors and, consequently, enhance our commodity exports,” said Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta after a meeting with Subianto.
He noted that, Indonesia is offering several national strategic projects requiring significant investment.
“We plan to finish around 18 projects this year, and 30 more by 2025,” he added.
As of Oct, this year, Indonesia has established 24 Special Economic Zones across the country. Hartarto also highlighted that, investment in KEKs this year, up to the third quarter, has reached 68.43 trillion rupiahs (4.3 billion U.S. dollars).– NNN-ANTARA
