Over 332 Kg Of Heroin, Over 4.1 Million Stimulant Tablets Seized In Central Myanmar This Month

YANGON, Nov 27 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized over 332 kg of heroin and more than 4.1 million stimulant tablets in central Myanmar’s Mandalay region, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported, late yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police raided a location in Kyaukse township, where narcotics were being transferred, together with 147.4 kg of heroin and 4.148 million stimulant tablets, on Nov 17, according to the report.

An additional 184.8 kg of heroin, in connection with the case, was also seized on Nov 19, in the same township, it said.

Investigations revealed that the drugs came from Shan state, the report said.

The seized drugs are approximately worth over 14.5 billion kyats (about 6.9 million U.S. dollars) on the black market, it said.

The arrested suspects have been charged under the country’s laws, and a further investigation is ongoing, the report added.– NNN-MNA
