NEW DELHI, Nov 15 (NNN-PTI) – India’s wholesale price index (WPI) inflation, increased to 2.36 percent in Oct, official data showed, yesterday.
The increase was primarily due to hike in prices of food items, machinery and equipment, motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers.
WPI food inflation increased from 9.47 percent in Sept to 11.59 percent in Oct.
WPI inflation was 1.84 percent in Sept and 1.25 percent in Aug.
WPI inflation, an indicator of prices in the wholesale market, rises or falls mainly due to steep fluctuations in global commodity prices.– NNN-PTI
