MEXICO CITY, Nov 13 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed her confidence that the strategy implemented by her government in terms of security will yield results.
“It is not from one day to the next, but the results will be noticed, and it has to do with addressing the causes and reducing impunity and also improving security in different places,” said the president during her usual press conference.
When presenting a report on the progress in this area during the first 39 days of the current administration, the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, highlighted the arrest of 3,015 individuals for high-impact crimes and the seizure of 42 tons of drugs.
According to the official during a speech on Tuesday at the press conference, among the drugs seized are 20,075 kilograms of cocaine and 390,740 fentanyl pills, in addition to the seizure of 1,334 firearms.
He mentioned blows inflicted on criminal groups, including the dismantling of 15 clandestine laboratories for the production of synthetic drugs, in which 40,185 liters and 5,156 kg of chemical substances, 11 organic synthesis reactors and the same number of condensers were seized.
The economic impact on criminal organizations is greater than five billion pesos (more than 240 million dollars), he said.
He also highlighted the arrest in this capital of Zhi Dong “N”, considered an important money laundering operator at an international level and who was in charge of making the connection with other cartels for the transfer of fentanyl from China to Central and South America, Europe and the United States.
In the southern state of Chiapas, authorities seized during an operation 935 kg of marijuana, 54 long weapons, 545 magazines, vehicles with homemade and factory armor, as well as nine cars and three motorcycles, detailed the head, who also referred to other results.
