TABORA (Tanzania), Nov 8 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — At least 14 people have died, and nine others injured in a road accident that occurred at Mwansengo Village, Itobo Ward, Nzega District in Tabora Region.
The accident occurred when a Toyota Hiace vehicle, whose driver is still unidentified, collided with a Mitsubishi Fuso truck.
According to the Tabora Regional Police Commander (RPC) Richard Abwao, the accident occurred when the Toyota Hiace driver recklessly attempted to overtake the truck (Fuso). He said the driver did not take any precautions before overtaking the truck.
The RPC said those who perished in the accidents are eight men, four women and two children.
“The accident occurred at around 2:20 PM on the Itobo-Bukene road at Mwansengo Village in Tabora Region. The driver of the Toyota Hiace fled the scene after causing the accident,” said the RPC.
“The bodies of the deceased have been preserved at the Nzega District Hospital, and nine of them have been identified by their relatives,” the RPC said. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
