Cambodia Produces Almost 13 Tonnes Of Dore Bars: Senior Official

PHNOM PENH, Nov 7 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia produced nearly 13 tonnes of dore bars, with 90 percent pure gold solution, since commercial mining started in Jun, 2021, a senior official said here, yesterday.

Ung Dipola, director general of the General Department of Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, said that, currently, 10 companies have been refining gold in Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Kratie, Kampong Thom, Preah Vihear, and Battambang provinces.

“Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Ltd. in Mondulkiri province received the highest yield of about 12,536 kilograms, while other companies received low yields,” he said, in Phnom Penh, during a press conference on a campaign against illegal mining in north-east Mondulkiri province.

The nation started to extract gold for the first time at a gold mining site in Keo Seima district, in Mondulkiri province in June 2021.

Renaissance Minerals, a subsidiary of Australia-listed Emerald Resources NL, is the developer of the mining site there.

A doré bar is a semi-pure alloy of gold and silver, that is usually created in a mine and then sent to a refinery for further purification. The composition of doré bars can vary depending on the ore body and the processing plant, but they typically contain around 90% precious metals.– NNN-AKP
