YANGON, Nov 5 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized 4.036 million stimulant tablets and 202 kg of ICE (methamphetamine), in eastern Myanmar’s Shan state, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported, yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a house in Yaypusan village, of Tachileik township, on Nov 1, confiscated the narcotics and arrested two suspects, the report said.
The seized narcotics have a street value of over 3.23 billion kyats (about 1.53 million U.S. dollars), it said.
An investigation showed that the seized narcotics were secretly stored in the house for illegal trade at the Tachileik border, the report said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigation is ongoing, it added.– NNN-MNA
