Eight Dead In Central India’s Road Mishap

NEW DELHI, Nov 4 (NNN-PTI) – As many as eight persons have died, after the vehicle they were travelling in, fell into a pond by the roadside, in India’s central state of Chhattisgarh, said a local police over the phone, yesterday.

The road mishap occurred late Saturday night, in the state’s Rajpur area.

The victims were travelling from Larima area in Balrampur district, to the neighbouring Surajpur district. Some of the deceased belonged to the same family, said the police.

Preliminary reports suggested that the driver failed to negotiate a sharp bend, following which the vehicle skidded off the road, and plunged into the roadside pond.

Six persons died instantly in the accident, two more succumbed to their injuries later.– NNN-PTI
