SINGAPORE, Oct 29 (NNN-XINHUA) – An oil spill occurred, off Singapore’s Changi, during a bunkering operation between a Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier and a licensed bunker tanker, yesterday, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said, today.
An estimated five tonnes of oil was reported to have overflowed, before it was stopped. MPA patrol craft had sprayed dispersants.
MPA reported, no oil sighted at sea near the accident and ashore, as of 8:00 a.m. local time, today. A current buster has been deployed off Changi, to recover oil on water, as a precautionary measure.– NNN-XINHUA
