DAR ES SALAAM, Oct 27 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — TANZANIA has expressed a strong commitment to enhancing economic collaboration with Belarus, particularly in the mining sector, as it seeks to attract foreign investment and technological expertise.
Speaking during a meeting with the Belarusian Ambassador to Tanzania, Pavel Vziatkin, Minister for Mining, Anthony Mavunde, said that Tanzania is blessed with a variety of minerals, including metals, gemstones and strategic minerals adding that investment opportunities are available for Belarusian investors in the mining sector.
“Through the President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s 4Rs philosophy, which establishes a conducive investment environment, we have continued to attract many investors to the country and we welcome Belarusian investors to seize this opportunity,” Mavunde said.
He noted that Tanzania has banned export of raw minerals, presenting an opportunity for investors to establish processing plants to add value to minerals in the country.
Moreover, Minister Mavunde pointed out that Tanzania has large-scale miners using modern technologies, as well as small-scale miners who still rely on outdated tools.
He urged Ambassador Vziatkin to explore the possibility of producing affordable machinery that would facilitate the activities of smallscale miners, who continue to make a significant contribution to the national economy.
Regarding strategic and important minerals, Mavunde said that there are more than 12 projects which are in the final stages of development, which will position Tanzania prominently on the map of countries with significant production of strategic and essential minerals in Africa.
He therefore invited various investors and companies from Belarus to participate in the Tanzania Mining Investment Conference (TMIC) scheduled for Nov 19-21, 2024, in Dar es Salaam.
He said that the conference will be an excellent opportunity for Belarusian companies to learn more about the investment prospects in Tanzania’s mining sector.
For his part, Ambassador Pavel said that the purpose of his visit is to strengthen economic diplomacy between Belarus and Tanzania to better understand the opportunities available in Tanzania’s mining sector and to showcase how Belarus has advanced in technology and the manufacturing of robust equipment applicable to the mining industry. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
