OSLO, Oct 25 (NNN-AGENCIES) — At least one person was killed and four others injured when a train carrying 55 passengers derailed in northern Norway following a landslide on Thursday Oct 24.
Police said the train was traveling from the city of Trondheim to the town of Bodo when it was hit by large rocks falling from the mountainside. The accident caused the engine and the first carriage of the train to derail and slide down a steep slope.
Rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and evacuate passengers. All passengers on board were taken to safety. However, the incident left one person dead and four others injured.
The main cause of the accident was determined to be a landslide, a geological phenomenon that often occurs in Norway, especially in the spring when the snow melts. Geologists are being dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and find out the cause of the incident. — NNN-AGENCIES
