Uzbekistan Generates Four Billion KWH Of “Green” Electricity So Far This Year

TASHKENT, Oct 22 (NNN-UzA) – Uzbekistan’s solar and wind power plants, generated four billion kWh of electricity, since the beginning of this year, according to the Ministry of Energy.

There are currently nine solar power plants, with a total capacity of 2.7 GW and one wind power plant, operating in Uzbekistan, producing environmentally friendly “green” energy, local media reported, yesterday, citing the Ministry of Energy.

This energy generation has helped save 1.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas, preventing the release of 1.68 million tonnes of harmful emissions into the atmosphere, the report said.

According to the press service of the Uzbek president, the potential of solar and wind energy in the country is 10 to 12 times higher than the current demand for electricity.– NNN-UzA
