Cambodia Exports Milled Rice Worth 335.4 Million USD In First Nine Months This Year

PHNOM PENH, Oct 15 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia exported a total of 445,913 tonnes of milled rice in the first nine months of this year, making a total revenue of 335.4 million U.S. dollars, the Cambodia Rice Federation said in a news release, yesterday.

Fifty-four companies have shipped milled rice to 65 countries and regions, during the Jan-Sept period this year, the news release said, adding that, China was still one of the key buyers of the commodity.

The kingdom exported 81,423 tonnes of milled rice to China during the above-mentioned period, earning gross revenue of 52.63 million dollars, the news release said.

Rice varieties the country exported included fragrant rice, white rice, parboiled, and organic rice.

Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokeswoman for Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said, China is one of the key markets for Cambodian agricultural products.

“The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other friendly countries have significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia’s agriculture, and brought a lot of benefits to our people, especially farmers,” she said.

Apart from milled rice, China has bought potential agricultural produce from Cambodia, such as, yellow bananas, mangoes, cassava, longans, and peppercorns, among others.– NNN-AKP
