Indonesian President Inaugurated New Palace In Nusantara

JAKARTA, Oct 12 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesian President, Joko Widodo, known popularly as Jokowi, yesterday inaugurated the State Palace, at the country’s future capital of Nusantara, on the island of Kalimantan, less than two weeks before leaving office.

The State Palace is one of two presidential palaces in Nusantara, with the other being Garuda Palace, which was still under construction.

Jokowi, accompanied by his wife, Iriana, and some ministers, said, the Garuda Palace will be inaugurated by his successor, Prabowo Subianto.

The Garuda Palace is designed to be the president’s official office, while the State Palace will be used for presidential events.

Jokowi, who has worked from Nusantara several times since Aug, will leave office on Oct 20.

On the same day, President-elect, Prabowo and Vice-president-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi’s eldest son, will be sworn in at the Senayan complex in South Jakarta.– NNN-ANTARA
