ULAN BATOR, Oct 11 (NNN-APA) – Mongolia exported a total of 59.1 million tonnes of coal in the first three quarters of this year, official data showed, today.
The figure represented a 1.3-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
Coal is a key export commodity for Mongolia, a country rich in natural resources. During the Jan-Sept period, coal constituted 56.5 percent of the country’s total exports, underscoring its vital role in the national economy.
Mongolia set a goal of exporting at least 60 million tonnes of coal this year, which has been revised to 75 million tonnes.
Last year, Mongolia exported a record 66.7 million tonnes of coal.– NNN-APA
