Foreigner Jailed For Lodging False Police Report In Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 8 (NNN-ANN) – A Bangladeshi man was sentenced to four weeks of imprisonment, for filing a false police report, local media reported, today.

According to the daily Borneo Bulletin, the 37-year-old Bangladeshi man, an assistant project manager at a company, lodged a report at a police station, claiming that he was assaulted and robbed of 3,600 Brunei dollars (2,700 U.S. dollars), by three men who identified themselves as immigration officers.

Police took the matter seriously and conducted extensive investigations. The alleged suspects were arrested, as part of the inquiry. Upon further investigations, police discovered that no such incident had taken place, said the report.– NNN-ANN
