ISLAMABAD, Oct 4 (NNN-APP) – A bus plunged into a ravine, in Pakistan’s south-west Balochistan province yesterday, claiming seven lives, while injuring dozens of others, officials said.
The accident occurred when the bus, carrying wedding guests, fell into a deep ditch near Brewery Bypass area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, killing seven people on the spot and injuring 59 others, Waseem Baig, media coordinator of the provincial health ministry, said.
The condition of most of the wounded people was reported to be critical, the official said, adding that, women and children were among the victims of the unfortunate accident.
Police in the area said that, the accident happened when the vehicle tumbled off a road, due to a tire burst, according to an initial investigation.
Following the accident, police and rescue teams reached the site and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals.
Road accidents are quite frequent in Pakistan, mainly due to poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and unprofessional driving.– NNN-APP
