Phase One Construction Of Indonesia’s New Capital City Nears Completion

JAKARTA, Sept 23 (NNN-ANTARA) – The construction of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN) Nusantara, in East Kalimantan province, has reached 93 percent completion for its first phase, according to Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, head of the IKN Nusantara Infrastructure Development Task Force, yesterday.

Phase one includes government buildings, ministerial residences, and housing for civil servants. Sumadilaga emphasised that, 20 ministerial houses have been completed so far, with 14 more under construction. The task force aims to finish the 28 houses by next month.

He said that, several key buildings in the core government centre (KIPP) are scheduled for inauguration next month, including Coordinating Ministry Office Buildings 1, 2, and 4. “We hope that the inauguration for several buildings at IKN’s KIPP can be realised,” he stated.

According to National Development Planning Minister, Suharso Monoarfa, the second phase of development in Nusantara will focus on public infrastructure, such as malls, hospitals, schools, and places of worship.– NNN-ANTARA
