Iran Rules Out Likelihood Of Talks On Issues Beyond Framework Of Nuke Deal

TEHRAN, Iran, June 8 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, on Friday, said that, raising issues by some powers beyond the framework of Iran’s nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), will not help save the multilateral accord.

Mousavi made the remarks, in reaction to the comments by French President, Emmanuel Macron, on Iran-related issues, including Iran’s ballistic missile programme, during his Thursday meeting with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump.

“Raising issues beyond JCPOA will bring the deal to the verge of collapse, as the United States aimed to do so with its unilateral exit from the pact,” he said.

Iran pays no heed to the “repeated, baseless and inconsistent claims” by Washington and some of its allies, he added.

Trump pulled Washington out of the JCPOA last year, and called for negotiations on a new nuclear deal with Iran.

He also urged the inclusion of Iran’s ballistic missile programme and Tehran’s regional role in the fresh talks with Iran.

Iran has stressed that it will not negotiate on its defence programme.– NNN-IRNA
