Four Indian Border Guards Wounded During Exercise In Rajasthan

NEW DELHI, Sept 22 (NNN-PTI) – At least four border guards belonging to India’s paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) were wounded, after a mortar shell exploded during a training exercise in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, multiple local media reports said, yesterday.

The 51mm mortar shell exploded during a drill on Friday, at Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer, about 505 km west of Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.

“Four BSF personnel, including an instructor and three trainee constables, were injured, after a 51mm mortar shell exploded prematurely, during a drill at Pokhran Field Firing Range, in Jaisalmer on Friday,” local newspaper, Times of India, said. “The injured were rushed to a government hospital in Pokhran and later referred to Jodhpur for treatment.”

Officials said BSF has launched an investigation into the incident.– NNN-PTI
