HERAT, Afghanistan, Sept 19 (NNN-ANA) – Nine persons of a family were killed in a deadly road accident, in western Afghanistan’s Herat province yesterday, provincial government spokesman, Mufti Yusuf Sayedi, said today.
The victims, all members of the same family, were travelling somewhere on Wednesday night, when their vehicle collided with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction, the official said, adding that, over-speeding of the vehicle and ignoring traffic laws caused the accident.
At least 2,001 people, according to the Ministry of Interior Affairs, had been killed and about 6,000 others sustained injuries in more than 4,200 road accidents in Afghanistan, over the past 12 months.– NNN-ANA
