KILIMANJARO (Tanzania), Sept 12 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — TANZANIANS have been urged to explore their country’s rich tourism offerings and contribute to the nation’s economy through domestic tourism.
The call was made by Tanzania’s Tourism Goodwill Ambassador, Nicky Reynolds, popularly known as ‘Bongo Zozo,’ during the launch of this year’s Kili Summiteers campaign.
“Tanzania boasts numerous breathtaking attractions that locals can experience firsthand,” said Bongo Zozo. “Domestic tourism is a powerful tool for economic growth and national pride.”
Bongo Zozo, a seasoned mountaineer with three successful summits of Mount Kilimanjaro under his belt, is participating in this year’s Kili Summiteers campaign to promote domestic tourism.
He encouraged Tanzanians to embrace the challenge and sense of accomplishment that comes with climbing their country’s iconic peak.
To enhance global awareness of Tanzania’s tourism treasures, Bongo Zozo called on tourism authorities to translate the “Tanzania Royal Tour Film” into multiple languages.
This would help dispel misconceptions and highlight the fact that Mount Kilimanjaro is indeed located in Tanzania.
The Kili Summiteers campaign, now in its fifth season, aims to inspire Tanzanians to explore their own country’s wonders, particularly by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Over 200 people have successfully summited the mountain through this initiative.
This year, 48 participants will embark on the challenging climb via various routes.
A special celebration is planned to commemorate the campaign’s fifth anniversary.
Ahsante Tours, a key partner in the campaign, emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts to promote domestic tourism.
“Domestic tourism is a rapidly growing sector and Ahsante Tours is committed to supporting its development,” said Cuthbert Swai, Director of Ahsante Tours.
Engineer Peter Ulanga, the founder of Kili Summiteers, highlighted the campaign’s efforts to involve Tanzanians living abroad, expanding its reach and impact. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
