MEXICO, Jun 7 (NNN-Prensa Latina) – All 1,450 binational companies of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) will be among the most affected by the tariffs that President Donald Trump plans to enforce on Mexican products, its president, Jose Torres, said on Thursday.

The AmCham leader told reporters that all affiliates would definitely be the most affected, as most of their operations are within their own companies; that is, between their branches on either side of the border.

‘We are in favor of free trade and commercial facilitation between the two countries or as an economic bloc of North America, and the tariffs would be to the detriment of the DNA of the companies that make up the American Chamber,’ the executed noted.

Notwithstanding, he noted that the first meeting between the delegations from Mexico and the United States showed that there is a will for dialogue, although he pointed out that the fact that they only discussed the migration issue and not the tariffs is part of a strategy by the government of President Donald Trump.

‘At the end of the day, imposing tariffs or any other kind of measure to the detriment of the flow of goods, which is the DNA of the AmCham companies, is not convenient for the two economies, due to their interdependence, and it will leave us in a difficult situation in the world market,’ he stressed.
