122,000 Drug Users Hospitalised In Afghanistan: Official

KABUL, Sept 9 (NNN-ANA) — A total of 122,000 drug users were hospitalised in Afghanistan, according to Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, deputy head of the country’s counter-narcotics department.

Afghan counter-narcotic police have conducted 78,000 operations, over the past three years, with 20,000 drug suspects arrested, Hamkar said.

According to the official, Afghan counter-narcotics police have also demolished 1,450 drug labs and 37,000 poppy farms across the country, during the period.

The Afghan caretaker government has banned poppy cultivation, processing of drugs and drug trafficking to eliminate the drug menace.– NNN-ANA
