KABUL, Sept 2 (NNN-ANA) – At least four people, including a girl, were killed, and two others injured, after a car plunged into a ditch in north Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province, yesterday, provincial police office said in a statement.
The road mishap took place when the car veered off the road and fell into the ditch, enroute from Ishkashim district to the neighbouring Shaghnan district of the province, the statement said.
Road accidents are common in mountainous areas and happen mostly due to poor driving, lack of safety measures for travellers on congested roads, and poor vehicle conditions.
According to official data, 2,001 people were killed and about 6,000 others injured in 4,270 road accidents in Afghanistan over the past 12 months.– NNN-ANA
