Bangladesh Take Historic Test Cricket Win Against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 (NNN-APP) – Bangladesh’s cricket team secured a historic first ever, Test victory against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Stadium yesterday.

Before chasing the meager target of 30 runs by ten wickets, Bangladesh spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, rattled through Pakistan’s batting lineup, claiming seven wickets between them.

Pakistan were looking to draw the match after having endured a 117-run deficit in the first innings, but Miraz’s four wickets for 21 runs and Hasan’s three for 44 dismissed Pakistan for just 146 runs in 55.5 overs in the second innings.

On the first day, Bangladesh had won the toss and decided to field. Pakistan lost three quick wickets at 16 runs, but Muhammad Rizwan led the team to 448-6 declared, which was overhauled by Bangladesh’s 565 runs.

Bangladesh’s right-hand batsman, Mohammad Mushfiqur Rahim, was declared player of the match for his 191 runs in the first innings.

Following the loss, Pakistan have dropped to eighth in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, while Bangladesh climbed to sixth position.

Both sides will play the second and final test of the series, starting on Friday at Rawalpindi Stadium.

“We didn’t play the way we thought we would. We have to look upon the mistakes we made collectively and work on them,” rued Pakistan captain, Shan Masood.

Masood added that, the cracks at the wicket opened up in last night’s session, helping Bangladesh’s bowling attack, vowing that his team would do better next time.– NNN-APP
