Typhoon No. 10 Heads Northwest Towards Japan’s Kyushu, Tokai Regions

TOKYO, Aug 23 (NNN-NHK) – Typhoon No. 10 has formed, near the Mariana islands in the Pacific Ocean, and is expected to reach the Japanese archipelago next week, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said, yesterday.

According to the JMA, the newly formed typhoon was slowly moving north-westward yesterday morning, and is expected to reach the south of Japan on Sunday, and bring strong winds to Japan from the Kyushu to Tokai regions, early next week.

Typhoon No. 10, the sixth one in Aug, had a central pressure of 1,000 hectopascals, and a maximum wind speed of 72 kph near the centre, the JMA said.

The weather agency urged people to stay vigilant on the movement of Typhoon No. 10.– NNN-NHK
