Nicaragua-China business forum consolidates economic partnership

MANAGUA, Aug 22 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Nicaragua and China held a business forum in which they consolidated collaboration and economic and commercial partnership for mutual benefit.

24 Chinese businessmen and representatives of 19 Nicaraguan companies participated in the meeting, and the parties exchanged information and signed important agreements.

“This time, we come to sign the letter of intent (…) and also to seek new developments and collaborations with more Nicaraguan companies,” commented the representative of China Postal Telecommunications, Li Jingyi.

The presidential advisor for investment and international cooperation issues, Laureano Ortega, explained that this meeting aimed to attract foreign investment to Nicaragua and establish commercial and business alliances.

Ortega called for work to better understand the ways to access the Chinese market, have better logistical routes for shipping goods, and better contacts between businessmen. “And facilitate everything that is in the hands of the Government, so that this becomes a reality in the most efficient and effective way and that you, the businessmen, can carry out that work in the easiest way possible,” he stressed.

The director general of the Department of International Trade of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Li Xinqiang, expressed that the visit of his delegation to Nicaragua is a powerful initiative to implement the important consensus between the presidents of both countries. “Chinese trade departments and companies are willing to learn more about the Nicaraguan market and its companies and introduce more high-quality products to the Chinese market,” he said.

The Chinese representative invited more Nicaraguan companies to exhibit at the next Shanghai fair to address the promotion of their special products and promote the entry of more Nicaraguan products into the Chinese market, to achieve mutual benefits and a win-win result.

According to official data, after the reestablishment of diplomatic relations in 2021 between Managua and Beijing, China has become Nicaragua’s third trading partner with a trade volume that reached $570 million in 2022. In January of this year, the Free Trade Agreement entered into force. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
