Cuban and Chinese authorities reaffirm their friendship ties

HAVANA, Aug 15 (NNN-ACN) — Wei Xiaodong, chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, on a visit to Cuba, held a meeting with authorities of the Havana City Government.

According to local newspaper Tribuna de la Habana, at the welcoming of the Asian delegation, Jesus Otamendiz Campos, vice governor of Havana, reaffirmed the unbreakable ties of relations between the two countries.

Feel Havana as your own great home in the Caribbean, its culture, its people, a city of history that has contributed a lot to the Revolution, he said.

He specified that the objective of the meeting is to strengthen relations between the two local governments, for which a MOU will be organized between the two provinces and the municipalities of Havana and Beijing.

Cuba established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China in 1960, being the first country in the western hemisphere to recognize the New China. — NNN-ACN
