HAVANA, Aug 13 (NNN-ACN) — The Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) issued a statement denying reports that Cuba played a role in the results of the Venezuelan presidential election.
“It is absolutely false that IT or any other specialists traveled from Cuba to Venezuela with the purpose of modifying the results of the elections held in that country,” MINREX stressed. “It is a groundless accusation devised by the former high-ranking Colombian official Francisco Santos, who did not provide any evidence because there is none.
“The promoter of this lie is known for his active participation in slanderous campaigns and for his involvement in several political scandals. (…) In December 2021, he invented that Iván Márquez, commander of a Colombian armed guerrilla force, was in Cuba, which was flatly denied by the facts.”
The politically motivated construction of a matrix of lies holding that Cuba has tampered with the votes of the Venezuelans is assumed as true by those who have been traditionally engaged in anti-Cuban smear campaigns. — NNN-ACN
