PHNOM PENH, Aug 13 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia exported a total of 379,546 tonnes of milled rice in the first seven months of this year, earning a revenue of 280 million U.S. dollars, the Cambodia Rice Federation said, in a news release yesterday.
Some 53 companies had shipped milled rice to 64 countries and regions, during the Jan-Jul period, the news release said, adding that, China remained one of the major buyers.
The kingdom exported 77,204 tonnes of milled rice to China, during the above-mentioned period, making a gross revenue of 48.28 million dollars, the news release said.
Rice varieties the country exported included fragrant rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice, among others.
Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said, China is one of the key markets for Cambodia’s potential agricultural products.
“The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other friendly countries have significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia’s agricultural sector, and brought benefits to the Cambodian people, particularly farmers,” she said.– NNN-AKP
