DAR ES SALAAM, Aug 11 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE Tanzanian Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) is set to host a significant business forum on August 30, this year in Dar es Salaam, aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Brazil and Tanzania.
This high-profile event will serve as a platform for businesses from both nations to network and explore collaboration opportunities across several key sectors including agriculture and food, healthcare, industry, services, automotive and defence and aviation.
The forum is expected to draw a substantial number of participants, including government officials, business leaders and investors.
Attendees will have the chance to engage in discussions that could lead to the signing of multiple agreements and partnerships, potentially bolstering the economic development of both countries.
Brazil and Tanzania have maintained diplomatic relations since 1970, with Brazil establishing an embassy in Dar es Salaam in 1979, which was later reopened in 2005 after a temporary closure. Tanzania reciprocated with an embassy in Brasília in 2007.
Over the years, the two countries have collaborated on various projects, including those in livestock, horticulture and the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Their bilateral and trilateral initiatives have fostered significant growth in areas such as food security, school meals and cotton sector development. These efforts have contributed to a strong mutual presence in each other’s countries, with both Brazilians in Tanzania and Tanzanians in Brazil feeling well-integrated.
Historical agreements between the nations include cooperation in sports and education, as well as visa exemptions for diplomatic passport holders.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s visit to Tanzania in July 2010 marked a historic milestone, enhancing bilateral contacts in sectors such as biofuels, agriculture, infrastructure, mining and trade. Former President Jakaya Kikwete also visited Brazil in 2012, further cementing these ties.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations was signed in 2018, continuing the tradition of deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.
