JAKARTA, Aug 10 (NNN-ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, announced yesterday that, it will soon repatriate the body of an Indonesian citizen, who was killed during anti-government protests in Bangladesh.
The 50-year-old victim, identified as DU, died on Monday, after being trapped in a hotel fire in Jashore, north-western Bangladesh. According to the ministry, DU’s death was caused by inhaling excessive smoke from the fire.
“We will repatriate the remains as soon as possible, either Monday or Tuesday next week, if feasible,” said Judha Nugraha, director of the Indonesian Citizen Protection and Legal Agency at the ministry.
The ministry has also assured that other Indonesian citizens in Bangladesh are safe, though the Indonesian embassy has advised them to remain cautious.
To prepare for potential future incidents, the embassy is setting up a safe house for Indonesian citizens.– NNN-ANTARA
