Two Killed, One Injured In S. Korea’s Work Train Collision

SEOUL, Aug 9 (NNN-YONHAP) – Two workers were killed and one was injured, in South Korea’s work train collision accident, early today, the Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL), the national railway operator, was cited as saying.

Two work trains collided at about 2:14 a.m. local time (1714 GMT Thursday), while doing maintenance and repair works on the railway track of Subway Line 1, at Guro Station, in Seoul.

Two KORAIL workers in their 30s were killed in the accident, while one was taken to a nearby hospital with a fractured leg.

At the time of the accident, they were working to replace insulating structures, while boarding an electric motor car that was hit by a track inspection train.

KORAIL planned to investigate the exact cause of the accident together with the police.– NNN-YONHAP
