DAR ES SALAAM, Aug 2 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — TANZANIA and the Kingdom of Morocco seek to explore new investment opportunities, build solid alliances and advance the development of the two countries.
Moroccan Ambassador to Tanzania, Zakaria El Goumiri, further said the two countries will organise the Second Edition of the Morocco-Tanzania Business Forum later this year for the purpose.
Goumiri revealed this at a ceremony held at the Embassy in Dar es Salaam to mark the 25th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s accession to the Throne (The Throne Day).
“Assessing our partnership’s history and prospects, it was noted that there was significant room for stronger cooperation.
Eager to tap into this great potential, the two governments have resolved to organise the Second Edition of the Morocco-Tanzania Business Forum later this year,” he stated.
In a further development of the partnership, the countries have also agreed to implement a Roadmap for collaboration in several critical sectors, including Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructure, Renewable Energies, Port Management and Capacity Building.
However, he noted that the cooperation between the two countries has also advanced significantly in the areas of training and education.
“I am delighted to report that we have increased the number of scholarships available to Tanzanian students, offering them greater access to high-quality education in vital fields such as medicine, engineering and tourism.
This decision is a clear reflection of our faith in the transformational potential of education and its vital role in fostering development,” he said.
Speaking on the Throne Day, he said it is a day for all Moroccans to reflect and feel proud, as they honour the Vision and dedication of their sovereign.
Since His Majesty King Mohammed VI ascended to the Throne on July 30,1999, the nation has experienced a significant transformation, becoming a prominent voice in international affairs and a leader on the continent.
On the economic front, Morocco has advanced significantly in several critical areas, including Manufacturing, Tourism, Agro-processing and Industry.
Gracing the occasion, Constitution and Legal Affairs Minister Pindi Chana said the Kingdom of Morocco under the exemplary and visionary leadership of His Majesty Mohammed VI has contributed and continues to contribute to the promotion of international peace, security and stability.
Chana remarked that Tanzania and Morocco enjoy long-standing bilateral ties. These relations date back to the pre-colonial era when the people in these countries were closely interacting through trading and other social and cultural activities.
“I must admit that our ties of friendship and cooperation were further strengthened after the State Visit to Tanzania by His Majesty the King in October 2016,” she pointed out.
During the visit, 22 agreements were signed in various areas of cooperation, including defence and security, trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, transport, health, education, culture and sports.
“Apart from the bilateral relations, our two countries also work very closely at regional and international levels especially within the framework of the AU, UN and South-South Cooperation.
We see eye-to-eye on many international issues, including in the promotion of peace, security and stability; climate change, regional integration and economic development,” she added.
Currently, Morocco is a member of the African Union Peace and Security Council and also among the main countries that are involved in Peacekeeping operations, with the contribution of more than 2300 troops.
Within the framework of South-South Cooperation, the Kingdom has provided support, including provision of more than 8,000 scholarships, to several African countries, Tanzania included. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
