Gazans Return In Thousands To Khan Younis Evacuated Only Days Ago: UN

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 1 (NNN-XINHUA) – UN humanitarians, yesterday, observed thousands of Gazans returning to Khan Younis, from which they fled Israeli military operations earlier in the week.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said, the displaced went back into areas of the city, including the central and eastern neighbourhoods, and into the adjacent area of Bani Suhaila. Their return followed the announced completion of the Zionist military ground operations and earlier evacuation orders.

The World Health Organisation (WHO), reported supporting a complex joint effort with the Emirati government and other organisations, to medically evacuate on Tuesday, 95 sick and severely injured patients from Gaza to Abu Dhabi. It was the largest from Gaza since Oct, last year.

The WHO said, 35 children and more than 60 caregivers and family members were evacuated via the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The agency said that more than 10,000 people still need medical evacuation from Gaza.

WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said, he hopes this will pave the way for establishing evacuation corridors via all possible routes, including the Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings to Egypt, Jordan, and other crossings.

He also called for evacuations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to be restored, saying, thousands of sick people in Gaza are suffering needlessly.

OCHA said, the Zionist forces or settlers in the West Bank, continue to have a devastating impact on Palestinians, killing six and injuring nearly 80 others, including almost two dozen children, in incidents across the West Bank, in just a single week, Jul 23-29.– NNN-XINHUA
