Five Automakers In S. Korea To Recall Some 430,000 Vehicles

SEOUL, Jul 25 (NNN-YONHAP) – Five domestic and foreign automakers in South Korea will voluntarily recall some 430,000 vehicles, for manufacturing defects, the transport ministry said, today.

Kia Corp. will recall 210,283 units of two different models, including K5, for poor durability of the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU), and 1,986 units of Niro EV for defective power shut-off device in high voltage battery, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Hyundai Motor will recall 178,489 units of three models, such as Tucson, for poor durability of the HECU that poses a fire risk, as well as, 3,142 units of GV80 due to design error in the electric side step.

The defective lighting set, which failed to meet safety standards, prompted a recall in 22,072 units of Model Y from Tesla Korea.

Volkswagen Group Korea will repair faulty fuel pumps in 5,341 units of five models, including A3 40 TFSI, and faulty battery module in 833 units of e-tron 55 quattro.

Toyota Motor Korea will take corrective actions on 5,559 units of 13 models, including ES300h, owing to bad welding in front and rear cameras, as well as, 2,829 units of four models such as NX350h, for software error in front recognition camera.

Vehicle owners can visit repair and service centres to replace the faulty parts free of charge.– NNN-YONHAP
