Death Toll In India’s Uttar Pradesh Train Derailment Rises To Four

NEW DELHI, Jul 20 (NNN-PTI) – The death toll in a train derailment in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh rose to four yesterday, officials said.

“One person succumbed to his injuries, in a Lucknow hospital, and another body was recovered from a coach of the train today (yesterday),” an official said. “Two other injured are in serious condition at Lucknow’s trauma centre.”

The derailment of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express took place Thursday afternoon, in Gonda district, about 117 km north-east of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the district magistrate of Gonda, Neha Sharma, 32 passengers were injured in the accident, after several coaches of the train jumped the tracks.– NNN-PTI
