11.2 Million Stimulant Tablets Seized In Central Myanmar

YANGON, Jul 17 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities seized 11.2 million stimulant tablets worth 16.8 billion kyats (about eight million U.S. dollars), in the central region of Myanmar, according to a statement by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), late yesterday.

Acting on a tipoff, anti-narcotic police searched a 22-wheeler, in Pwin Oo Lwin township, Mandalay region, on Sunday, and seized 3.95 million stimulant tablets along with two suspects.

Later that day, they confiscated another 7.25 million tablets and arrested a suspect, after an 18-wheeler was inspected in the same township, it said.

An investigation revealed that the seized drugs were being carried from Shan state to the Mandalay region, it added.

The three suspects involved in the cases were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it said.– NNN-MNA
