DAR ES SALAAM, July 16 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzanian PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has thanked the government of Denmark for providing financial support for development projects, amounting to 1.95 Million Danish Krone (about 645bn/- ) in the period of five years.
Majaliwa extended the gratitude on Monday during the talks he hosted for the outgoing Danish Ambassador in Tanzania, Mette Dissing-Spandet in Dar es Salaam.
He said Denmark has been supporting Tanzania in the health sector, research, environment conservation, strengthening of democracy and good governance.
“The government of Tanzania appreciates the support that the Danish government extended to us during your five years’ term, enabling to strengthen cooperation between our two nations that spans 60 years. We also benefited from the exchange programmes,” Majaliwa said.
He lauded Dissing Spandet’s stance that played a key role in postponing the closure of the Denmark’s embassy in Tanzania in 2020 when the world experienced economic recession.
“Our government used Danish diplomatic office in Tanzania to advance our aspiration for a continued relation with Denmark. It is our sincere hope that we will receive another Danish ambassador,” he said.
The PM expressed his hopes that the incoming Danish ambassador will also continue the good work started by the predecessor including finalising the preparation of the Tanzania-Denmark Business Forum that aims at welcoming investors to tap into the abundant opportunities in energy, agriculture, business and industry.
Moreover, he urged the outgoing ambassador to market various opportunities available in Tanzania after flying back to her home country.
For her part, DissingSpandet said she is leaving Tanzania when the two nations are in good relationship. “I am grateful that my five-year term was interesting and unforgettable regardless of the Covid-19 pandemic and the global economic challenges,” she said.
She assured Tanzanians that the succeeding ambassador is a seasoned diplomat who can bring desired outcomes, boosting investments for the prosperity of the two countries. — NNN-DAILYNEWS
