Daesh, Taliban-linked bombings in Kabul claim 12 lives within two days

KABUL, Afghanistan, June 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) – At least 12 people have been confirmed dead and about two dozens others sustained injuries, in two suicide bombings that rocked Afghanistan’s capital city, Kabul on Thursday and Friday, officials confirmed.

In Friday’s suicide car bombing, for which the Taliban group has claimed responsibility, four people were killed and three others injured, Interior Ministry spokesman, Nasratullah Rahimi, said.

All the victims, according to Rahimi were innocent civilians.

The bloody blast happened in the morning rush hour in Qala-e-Wazir area, in the eastern edge of Kabul city, where a convoy of the U.S.-led foreign troops was passing.

However, Zabihullah Majahid, who claims to speak for the Taliban group, in contact with media, claimed responsibility and asserted that a Taliban suicide bomber detonated his explosive-laden car next to a convoy of foreign forces in Kabul, at 08:40 a.m. local time, killing “10 occupying soldiers” on the spot and destroying two vehicles of the foreign forces.

The NATO-led Resolute Support mission has yet to make comment on the Taliban claim.

Friday’s bloody blast is the second of its kind in Kabul over the past two days.

On Thursday, a suicide bomber blew himself up next to the gate of Marshal Fahim National Defence University, killing eight people and injuring six others, mostly cadets, who were going home for weekend to spend time with their families.

The hardliner Daesh outfit has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

Anti-government militants have increased activities, as the Taliban offensive on security checkpoints in Obe district of western Herat province, on Thursday night killed 10 people, including six police and four civilians, while government forces’ crackdown on a Taliban hideout in Aqtash district, of the northern Kunduz province, killed six insurgent and injuring six others.– NNN-AGENCIES
