Iran condemns Saudi crisis summits for ‘distracting from true enemy’

TEHRAN, June 1 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Friday that Iran demises and condemns the statement issued by certain Arab and Persian Gulf leaders “in which baseless allegations were raised against our country”.

Mousavi said Iran is confident that such statements do not reflect the real viewpoints of all the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

He argued that Saudi Arabia, as the host of the meeting, exploited the opportunity of the holy month of Ramadan and the holy city of Mecca to attribute allegations against Iran.

Foreign ministry spokesman also criticized Saudi Arabia for missing the opportunity of the International Quds Day, OIC and Arab meeting in Mecca to pursue the rights of the Palestinian people, and instead has adopted a wrong approach, sowing seeds of discord among Islamic and regional countries.

He said that the Saudi’s approach in this summit was in line with Zionists’ ill-wishes.

Mousavi noted that the Saudi measures are in line with futile efforts made by US and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Iranian spokesman expressed the hope that the OIC leaders will not let the Palestinian issue be overshadowed by divisive policies and strategic mistakes.

The Zionist regime always seeks to divert the attention of the Islamic countries from their main and joint enemy in a way that they will be engaged to conflict with themselves, Mousavi said.
