YANGON, Jul 12 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities have seized 105 kg, 300 heroin blocks, in the country’s eastern state of Shan, the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) reported late yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police intercepted two vehicles in Tachilek Township of Shan State on Tuesday, and confiscated the heroin blocks from the vehicles, the CCDAC said.
The seized narcotics had a street value of approximately 1.57 billion kyats (about 747,619 U.S. dollars), and three suspects were arrested in connection with the case, the CCDAC said.
Investigation showed that, the narcotics were transported from Namsang of southern Shan State, to Tachilek of eastern Shan State, it said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigation is underway, it added.– NNN-MNA
