Cambodia’s Angkor Botanical Garden Wins Travellers’ Choice Awards 2024

PHNOM PENH, Jul 11 (NNN-AKP) – The Angkor Botanical Garden, in north-west Cambodia’s famed Angkor Archaeological Park, has won TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2024, the APSARA National Authority (ANA) said, in a news release yesterday.

The ANA is the government agency responsible for managing, safeguarding and preserving the Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO-listed world heritage site, in Siem Reap province.

“The Angkor Botanical Garden, run by the APSARA National Authority, has been awarded the Travellers’ Choice Awards Winner by the TripAdvisor for 2024,” the news release said.

The TripAdvisor said on its website that, the Angkor Botanical Garden is home to more than 500 species of plants and flowers and tens of thousands of trees.

The 15-hectare site has five large gardens, including medicinal and spice garden, seasonal flower and grass garden, palm tree and palm oil garden, fruit plant garden, and forest and wildlife garden.

“This park will be a new place for relaxation in the Angkor zone, and also a place to explore many species of plants, flowers and wildlife,” the TripAdvisor said.

The 401-square-kilometre Angkor Archaeological Park is home to 91 ancient temples built from the ninth to the 13th centuries.

The ancient park, which is the most popular tourist destination in the country, attracted a total of 521,950 international tourists in the first six months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 35 percent, said a report from the state-owned Angkor Enterprise.

It made 24.35 million U.S. dollars in revenue from ticket sales, during the Jan-Jun period this year, up 36 percent year-on-year, the report added.– NNN-AKP
