Mongolian Parliament Approves Law On Gov’t Structure

ULAN BATOR, Jul 10 (NNN-APA) – The Mongolian parliament, also known as the State Great Khural, approved a law, outlining the structure and composition of the new coalition government, early today.

According to the law, the new government comprises a prime minister, 22 ministers, and 16 ministries.

On Monday, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP), the Democratic Party (DP), and the Hun Party, meaning “Person” in Mongolian, signed a memorandum of understanding to form a coalition government.

The coalition aims to swiftly address Mongolia’s development challenges, consider critical international relations and geopolitical situations, and emphasise national unity, according to the parties.

The MPP secured a narrow victory in the parliamentary elections on Jun 28, winning 68 of the 126 seats. The DP obtained 42 seats, the Hun Party secured eight seats, and the Civil Will-Green Party and the National Coalition each secured four seats.

Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, chairman of the MPP, was re-elected, last week, for a second four-year term as Mongolia’s prime minister, and he is expected to appoint his cabinet ministers soon.– NNN-APA
